Popular native doctor from Enugu State, Obi Levi Obieze, has been arrested by the Nigerian Immigration Service while trying to flee the country.

The NIS confirmed the arrest of Obieze in a statement on Thursday, stating that the native doctor was arrested by the Service’s Lagos operatives at Gbaji checkpoint along Badagry-Seme Road while he was trying to escape from the country on a motorcycle.

The Service also confirmed that his identity has been confirmed through the National Identity Management Commission enrollment slip that were found on him.

The NIS also stated that Obieze admitted to committing the alleged clrimes, and that the it is working with the Nigeria Police Force for his handover and further investigation.

BACKGROUND

According to a source who spoke to the Guardianz it all started on Monday when a father and his 13-year-old were on their way to the farm and were stopped by two men who pretended that their motorcycle had developed fault.

One of the men approached the minor’s father for assistance, asked him to help with his cutlass which he obliged.

They said the motorcycle would require a push to work and begged the man to help. Surprisingly, one of the suspects grabbed the girl, jumped onto the bike, and they zoomed off.

The girl’s father raised alarm – local vigilante groups and police then begsin searching for the missing minor.

Residents around Obieze reported hearing screams from a bush near his compound.

The search team proceeded to the location – the native doctor reportedly attempted to stop them but they overwhelmed him.

Upon getting to the scene, they saw and rescued the 13-year-old girl on Tuesday.

Further searches then uncovered decomposed bodies of two pregnant women in separate soakaway pits on the premises.

The discovery triggered uproar, and members of the community dragged and paraded him naked.

He was reportedly on the run with his four wives before been arrested by operatives of the Immigration Service in Lagos.

Obieeze is a resident of Umuojor village in Isiagu Community, Enugu State.
