The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adebayo, on Saturday said God had warned him against leaving the ministry.
According to him, God warned him earlier in his life that if he leaves RCCG his firstborn will die.
Adebayo made this known during the June edition of the Holy Ghost Service at the church in Ogun state at midnight on Saturday, while referring to his son Paster Leke’s earlier sermon, in which he lamented the trend of young Christians moving from one church to another.
While adding to his son’s delivery, he recalled how he was tempted to leave the church at the early stage of his pastoral career but God warned him against the move.
He noted that at the time, there where two prominent ministries and his church was relatively unknown with its headquarter being a small building at the Ebute-Metta area of Lagos State.
“When I got born again, there were three major ministries that were making waves, and they were very good. There were different temptations to go from one to another,” Adeboye said.
“God spoke to me, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay. The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will die’”
The clergyman noted that despite being a lecturer and his spiritual father not having any formal education, God told him that “this is where you will stay”.
He therefore urged his his congregation to discoverer where “God wants you to stay” and remain there.
He, however, clarified that he is not implying that his Christian domination
is “better than any other denomination”.
