The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, on Saturday launched the America Party to challenge the United States political establishment, the Republic and the Democrats.
According to Musk, U.S. is running a one-party system and not a democracy.
The launch comes after his breakup with US President Donald over the “One Big Beautiful Bill”.
Musk, who served as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency for four months, fiercely opposed the bill. He noted that it undermines the DOGE’s work by increasing the deficit.
The billionaire vowed to campaign against Republican lawmakers who supported the bill in the coming election and promised to launch his own political party if the bill scale through the Congress, which it eventually did and was signed into law on July 3
In response, he cited a poll on his X social media account on Friday – a yes-or-no survey, asking respondents if they “want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system”.
In an update to the survey that had over 1.2 million respondents, he posted on Saturday, “By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!”
In a follow-up post on Saturday, he said, “When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.
“Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”
Musk was instrumental to Trump’s return to the White House as he was his biggest donor.
The duo’s relationship was going fine until Trump floated the “One Big Beautiful Bill”.
He claimed Musk’s only fraustration with the bill was because of the removal of electric vehicle tax credits – an incentive for buyers of Tesla.
The President had threatened to deport Musk and to also cancel all governmet contracts with his businesses, including SpaceX, a company holding federal agreements worths hundred of billions.
