Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South Senatorial Distract on Sunday alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s aides are damaging his image by deceiving him.
According to Senator Ndume, the President’s aides are feeding him with what he would like to hear and are not telling him the exact happenings in the country.
Ndume, sho refused to name any aides, described those individuals as kleptocrats” and “kakistocrats”.
“I see people lying and telling the president what he wants to hear,” Ndume said said on Channels Television’s Politics Today. “My position is that the people who are supposed to help him are the ones deceiving him or damaging his image.”
Ndume said his perception of the current administration will remain the same until a change comes from the aides or the “president does something”.
He believes the administration is being hijacked by individuals who are in government for their personal gains.
“I still believe the government is more or less dominated by kleptocrats and even kakistocrats,” the Senator said, and when asked to explain what he meant, he replied, ““Kakistocrats are people holding positions they are not supposed to be in, while kleptocrats are those in politics for personal gain, not public service.”
Ndume urged Tinubu to listen to people like himself because they are the ones who move around the country.
He noted that the President cannot move around, and when he’s been driven outside that Aso Rock, people around him prevent him from seeing what’s going on in the country.
He said people are going through hard time and that the President is aware of the pains his policies have brought on ordinary Nigerians.
“It is the people like us who represent the public that should be listened to,” added. “Intelligence should come from those who are close to the ground. Things are very bad in the country.”
