President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday received Queen Mary Mary Elizabeth of Denmark at the State House in Abuja.
Queen Mary, who is the patron of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), is coming to Nigeria for the first time.
During the meeting, Tinubu said that the country is ready to collaborate with Denmark on “knowledge transfer, veterinary health, and sustainable agribusiness practices”.
The president also noted that the conflicts between herdsmen and farmers remain a security and developmental challenge facing the country.
Tinubu said in a statement by his special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga that “We can convert that friction into structured economic opportunity and provide education pathways—even for farmers and herders.
“We can stabilise communities, grow our food systems, and lift millions out of poverty.”
Tinubu emphasised the need for Nigeria to manage a projected population of 400 million in 2050 through targeted investment in “agriculture, education, healthcare, and employment”.
The President noted that Denmark has invested in agriculture and maritime and commended the country for supporting Nigeria’s efforts in aspects of its internally displaced persons (IDPs) in conflict-affected areas.
