Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has said that her sister, Atsi Kefas, died as a result of several gunshots wounds she sustained after a police officer opened fire.
According to reports, Atsi died after she suffered gunshot wounds when unknown gunmen attacked their convoy in December 2024.
Governor Kefas, at a town hall meeting to mark his second anniversary in office, noted that a preliminary police investigation revealed that a police escort killed her.
In his words, “In the case of my sister Atsi, a preliminary police report revealed that she died as a result of severe gunshot injuries sustained from shots by one of the police escorts in the vehicle. Investigation is still ongoing to ascertain the circumstances so that justice will prevail” (Channels Television).
The governor also evaluated the performsnce of his administration since taking office in 2023.
He said within two years Taraba was moved from sidelined to a leadership role in “discipline, technology, and a good heart”.
Kefas added that he is building a state where achievement would not be measured by sentiment, but instead by results.
He ended his speech by saying he’s moving away from promises to results that will benefit the people of the state.
