Senator Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker from Kaduna Central Senatorial District has slammed Nassr El-Rufai and Rotimi Amaechi over their recent criticism of The President Bola Tinubu administration.
Sani, who served in the 8th National Assembly, said both El-Rufai and Aneachi are not in the position to criticised the current administration.
According to him, thier criticisms of the Tinubu-led administration were not borne of patriotism but of “hypocrisy and selfish political motives”.
Their Criticisms
Recall that El-Rufai, a former Governor of Kaduna, at the 60th birthday celebration of Amaechi, decried the current situation of the country, claiming that “urban bandits” had taken over seats of power.
Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation and former Governor of Rivers also slammed the administration.
Amaechi claimed he was hungry at the event and said the opposition coalition in which he’s a part can unseat Tinubu in 2027.
Sani’s Reaction
Reacting to their remarks, at a press briefing in his residence in Kaduna, he described El-Rufai and Amaechi as the “architects of the banditry, poverty, and hunger” in the country.
He said they did not address the same issues they “pretend to lament” about while they were in power for eight years.
He noted that it is normal to criticise but claimed El-Rufai and Aneachi are criticising the current administration because they are not holding any political offices.
“These individuals controlled the affairs of the country for eight years,” Sani said, as reported by the Punch Newspaper. “They had the power, the resources, and the influence to transform the North into a socio-economic model for the rest of the country. Instead, they left it in a worse condition.”
He highlighted that the insecurity in Kaduna has reduced, saying people can now “travel to the Birnin Gwari road”, and that the southern region of the state now experience relative peace.
