Renowned business man from Kano State, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has passed away at the age of 94.
Dantata’s passing was announced by his Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Abdullahi, through a post on Facebook on Saturday.
The post read, “It is with heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved father, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.
“May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and forgive his shortcomings. The Janazah details will be shared later insha Allah.”
He was brother of businessman Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s grandfather.
Dantata, who was the founder of Express Petroleum & Gas Company Limited, was born on May 19, 1931, to Alhaji Alhassan Dantata, one of West Africa’s wealthiest merchants in the early 20th century.
He was recognised for his impact as one of the members of the Constitution Drafting Committee that prepared Nigeria’s 1979 Constitution.
Over the decades he expanded and diversified the family business empire into “construction, manufacturing, banking, agriculture, and the oil and gas sectors”.
