The former Governor of Anambra, Mr Peter Obi, has lamented the demolition of his younger brother’s company building in Ikeja, Lagos State.
According to him, the demolition occured without any legal backing.
The Labour Party presidential candidate in 2023 said his brother landed in Lagos from Port Harcourt but was denied access to the property.
Obi said his brother was informed that the demolition of the property had already started over the weekend.
He noted that his brother called him and he flew to Lagos, went to the site, and met a security personnel who provided him with a court order issued “against an unknown person and squatters”.
“They told me they had a court judgment, and I immediately requested it,” he shared on his X account on Tuesday.
“You would not believe that the court judgment they claim was issued against an unknown person and squatters. I went further to ask about a demolition order or permit, and there was none.”
Obi also recalled how a businessman with investments in Ghana, Senegal, and Benin informed him that he is not going to invest in Nigeria until the country resolve its lawlessness.
He added that he was shocked that Nigeria has gotten to this “level of lawlessness”.
“What kind of country are we trying to build when the rights of citizens, their lives, their properties, and their voices are trampled upon daily?” he asked.
