Former member of thr Labour Party Kenneth Okonkwo has accused Mr Peter Obi of betrayal and faulted him for the crisis rocking the LP.
Okonkwo, in a recent interview on Symfoni TV, said Obi is responsible for the murdering of his own political career.
According to him, the former Governor of Anambra State ignored warnings and aligned himself with Julius Abure-led faction, which he alleged associates with the ruling All Progressive Congress.
Okonkwo also blamed Obi for his inability to resolve LP crisis, saying he is a politician of “convenience, not a politician of conviction”. He faulted the LP 2023 presidential candidate’s style of leadership, saying he is not a team player.
In his words, “If you are a brilliant politician, what you should do is to start preparing and consolidating for 2027, and the first platform you begin with is your party.”
Nobody is murdering Obi’s political career. Obi is committing political suicide. And I mean it.”
He also denied betraying Obi by leaving the party, saying “Any politician who knows what he is doing cannot be betrayed by anybody. If there is anybody who betrayed the other, I can say it emphatically that Peter Obi betrayed me.”
Okonkwo left the the LP in July 2024, saying his beliefs no longer align with the party.
And added that he does not see Ohi winning any election, noting that his failure to resolve the LP crisis is evidence that if the people vote for him, he would struggle to defend the mandate.
