Former Governor Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, on Thursday said the coalition party, the African Democratic Congress will put Nigerians first.
Obi, in a post on his X account, emphasised the need for the collaboration among opposition parties, stating that a single group cannot change Nigeria.
According to him, they are committed to sacrificing to ensure that competent, capable, and compassionate leadership emerges in 2027.
His post read, “Our commitment is to sacrifice and work together towards the 2027 General Elections, ensuring that Nigeria gets a competent, capable, and compassionate leadership that will prioritise the nation’s future by putting the welfare of Nigerians first.
“No one group can change Nigeria alone. To dismantle the structures that keep our people in poverty and insecurity, we must build bridges, not walls, even when those bridges are uneasy.”
The opposition politicians formally adopted the ADC as coalition party on Wednesday and named former Senate President David Mark as interim national chairman, while ex-Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola serving as interim national secretary.
At the unveiling of ADC as the coalition party, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai were also sighted at the unveiling of ADC as coalition party at Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja on Wednesday.
Other attendees: Senator Dino Meleye; Senators Gabriel Suswam and Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party; and a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha.
Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Ameachi; ex-Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung; Publisher of Ovation Magazine Dele Momodu; and the former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami also attended the event.
