Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has said the reason some Nigerian men are dealt with when they leave the shores of the country is because they are wired to see women as lesser human.
Kate, who made the remarks during an interview on Arise TV, said Nigerian laws also tend to favour men over women.
She highlighted that when a Nigerian man married a foreign woman she automatically gets the country’s passport.
But when Nigerian woman gets married to a foreign husband, he does not get the same opportunity.
The noted that while it’s true that God created women from men’s side so as to stand beside them, Nigerian men have translates this to mean that women are lesser human beings.
In her words, “God created man and woman, He created the man first, no doubt, but he brought the woman from the side, not from the head over the man or from under to be beneath him.
“But beside to reign beside him, to be fruitful… but Nigerian men see women as less than human, that is why when you leave these shores and go somewhere else, they show you people pepper.
“A man is reasonably allowed to chastise his wife. Why? A man who marries a foreigner can get a passport for her, but a woman who marries a foreigner would go through loops before she can (get) the same passport for her husband who is (also) a foreigner in this same Nigeria.”
