No fewer than 19 athletes from Kano Contingent have died after their bus fell off bridge while returning from the just-conluded National Sports Festival held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Accrdijg to the Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Umar Fagge, who confirmed the accident, other athletes suffered various degrees of injuries.
Briefly.ng learnt that the bus conveying 30 athletes crashed off the Dakatsalle Bridge in Kura Local Government area of Kano State on Saturday.
“As I am talking to you now, we have counted 19 dead bodies,” Fagge told reporters.
Vice President of SWAN, Ado Salisu, also confirmed the tragic incident and added that victims were still being taken to Kura General Hospital.
The Federal Road Safety Corps, Kano Sector Command PRO, Abdullahi Labaranl, confirmed to have received the report.
