The Islamic Republic of Iran on Monday carried out a retaliatory strikes against the United States by launching missiles towards the Al Udeid air base in Qatar.
According to reports, no American personnel were killed or injured in the attack.
Iran is said to have warned the U.S. through two diplomatic channels hours before the strikes.
The Islamic Republic armed force, which described the strike as “devastating and powerful”, said it launched the same number of missiles Washington dropped on the country nuclear facilities over the weekend.
The U.S. Air Force had dropped 30,000-pound bunker-busters on Iranian underground nuclear facilities with the B-2 Bomber.
“I can confirm that Al Udeid Air Base was attacked by short-range and medium-range ballistic missiles originating from Iran today. At this time, there are no reports of U.S. casualties,” a U.S. defence official said.
“We are not aware of any damage to the installation at this time.”
The Al Udeid Air Base is the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East, housing around 10,000 troops.
The Qatari authority said all missiles were intercepted and called for cessation of hostility from all parties.
