Arsenal FC has confirmed that Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes signed a new four-year contract extension with the club.
According to Sky Sports, the centre-back had two years left on his previous contract – will now be at the Emirates until 2029.
Gabriel, 27, who joined the Gunners at the age of 22 from Lille for £27 million in 2020, has gone on to play 210 matches and scored 20 goals.
“Gabriel Magalhaes has signed a new long-term contract with us,” the Gunners said in an official statement on the club’s website.
After signing the new deal, Gabi expressed his desire to win some trophiess with the Gunners, saying “I hope I win some trophies with this club”.
“Arsenal is an amazing club and I’m so proud to sign a new contract,” Gabi said. “I love this club, I love the supporters, my teammates, I love this stadium.
“I’m so proud and thank you for all the support. We continue together for the future.”
The Gunners are looking to rebuild after failing to twin the Premier League in a second consecutive season, finishing second and going trophyless.
The Gunners are reportedly working towards tying Gabriel’s defensive partner, William Saliba, down with a new contract, as well as forward Bukayo Saka.
Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey’s contract with the club will expire at the end of June but talks are ongoing to sign a new deal amid interest from Barcelona in hiding his services on free transfer..
However, Jorginho and Kieran Tierney are expected to leave when their contracts expires this month as they won’t be getting an extension.
