The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday held his second private meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Fubara met Tinubu at his residence in Lagos and held a closed-door meeting with the President.
The details of their meeting remain sketchy, but many believe it is in connection with the ongoing emergency rule in Rivers.
Tinubu had suspended Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the state house of assembly for an initial six months, citing political instability as the reason.
The President then appointed a retired naval officer, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas, as sole administrator.
Fubara, however, said he is committed to peace and returning to the Government House.
According to reports, Fubara and Tinubu’s first meeting took place in London and when he marked his two years in office last wponth, he thanked the President.
Fubara said Tinubu’s timely intervention saved the state from looming crisis.
He also confirmed that reconcilation talks between himself and his predecessor, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
“There will be peace between my Oga and I. We are meeting, and we will reconcile,” he said.
