The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Sunday amdexlared Thursday, June 12, 2025 as public holiday to mark this year’s Democracy Day.
Minister Tunji-Ojo, in a statement I ssued on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated Nigerians for 26 uninterrupted years of democratic governance in the country.
The statement was released by the ministry Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, and reads, “June 12 represents our historic journey to building a nation where truth and justice reign and peace is sustained and our future assured.
“The last 26 years tell the story of our resilience, strength and courage and a hope renewed than ever.”
The Minister added that Premier Bola Tinubu is committed to democracy, and under his leadership citizens will be allow to freely express their choic to “shape the nation’s political, economic, social, and cultural direction”.
Monday is already among the days given to celebrate the Islamic Eid al-Adha festival.
