President of the United States, Donald Trump, on Monday said Iran and Israel have agreed to a “complete and total” ceasefire.
According to Trump, who made this know via his social media platform, the ceasefire would come into effect on Tuesday after Iran and Israel finished their recent missions.
His post read, “Congratulation to everyone! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!”
According to Reuters, the ceasefire was a U.S. proposal and was conveyed to Tehran through the Prime Minister of Qatar.
This comes just hours after Iran’s armed forces launched symbolic missile strikes on U.S. air base in Qatar as a retaliatory response to US’ strike on the its underground nuclear facilities over the weekend.
Neither Iran nor Israel has responded to Trump’s ceasefire annoumemce as of the time of filing this report.
