The striker of Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo, has confirmed that he won’t be leaving the Saudi Pro League this summer.
Ronaldo, 40, who scored as Portugal went on to beat Spain and win their second Nations League title at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany on Sunday, has a current contract with Al Nassr that is due to expire this month.
Speculation about his future emerged after he shared a xryptoc message on his socialedia account.
He had posted last monthst that “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written.”
Many journalists read meaning into the post, suggesting that he may be eyeing the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
The FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, further duelled the speculation after revealing that discussions were ongoing to have the former Manchester United and Real Madrid legend at the Club lub World Cup, hinting at a move for the striker to sign for a club playing in the tournament.
But on Saturday, Ronaldo confirmed he won’t be playing at the Club World Cup, and after the Nations League victory, he said his future is with Al Nassr.
“Future? Nothing will change. Al Nassr? Yes,” he said.
The five-time Balloon d’Or winner is yet to win a major trophy with the Saudi side since joing from Banchester United in December of 2022.
