At least one passenger survived from the Air India plane crashed that happened on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in the india’s northwesterner city of Ahmedabad.

Briefly.ng earlier reported that the London’s Gatwick Airport-bouned flight crashed into a residential area in Meghani Nagar shortly after taking off from the Ahmedabad International Airport.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner had 242 passengers on board, 169 of whom were indians, 53 British, seven Portuguese and one Canadian citizen.

According to the BBC, The police in Ahmedabad confirmed that there was one survivor and he is a United Kingdom citizen.

The city police commissioner, GS Malik, noted that the survivor in seat 11A was taken to “the hospital and is under treatment”.

UK officials are expected to be deployed to the Asian country to support the India-led investigation into the plane crash.

The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch noted that it has y
formally offered its assistance” to the India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.

The AAIB officials will play an expert role in the India-led investigation because British citizens were on board the crashed aircraft.

Before this incident, the last major Air India passengers plane crash was in 2020, and it happened after the its “Express Boeing 737 skidded off a hilltop runway in southern India, killing 21 people”..
