Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi on Wednesday slammed President Bola Tinubu, saying he never believed he could govern Nigeria.

According to Amaechi, who confirmed the resignation of his membership from the ruling All Progressive Congress, under Tinubu-led administration, Nigeria’s economic has collapsed.

In his words, “Nigeria is completely destroyed. People can’t eat. People can’t buy food. There’s no money to buy food. Everything is gone. Inflation is at its peak.”

He said Tinubu never had the capacity to govern the country and claimed that Nigerians are craving for former President Muhammadu Buhari to return to power.

“I have never believed that Tinubu is a material to govern the country… People want Buhari to come back.”

He noted that during Buhari administration, which he was a part of, the exchange rate was at N460 to 1 USD, but now it’s N1580 to 1USD.

“Dollar was I think ₦460 or five hundred and something, now a dollar is ₦1,580. That is more than 100 per cent,” Amaechi said.

When asked if the current administration deliberately crashed the Naira, he replied, “Whether it’s a deliberate government policy or not, any government that does not take into consideration the people you are governing is not a policy. President Tinubu said he is not here to make Nigerians happy.”

The former Rivers State Governor also confirmed having an ambition, saying it is his right.

“I have the right to be ambitious, I am not overambitious,” he added.
